What are Spherical and Cylindrical 360º VR-Images ?

SPHERICAL 360º VR-Images records the full spherical environment: 180 degrees up and down and 360 degrees around. Apple Computer who originally delivered the technology calls it Quicktime VR (QTVR) or Cubic VR's.
CYLINDRICAL 360º VR panoramas are limited view panoramas and do not need the requirements to see fully above and below. These panoramas are typically imaged with a field of view (fov) of 100 x 360 degrees or less. These are taken for subjects that are best suited for limited views like city sky lines and group photos. Cylindrical panoramas are also used for print presentations.

What is the difference in Java, QTVR and Flash ?

JAVA is built into the operating system of almost every personal computer used today and therefore our JAVA content does not require any additional software download to view it. However, occasionally Java is disabled in your browser. So if you experience any issues please test the version of Java your browser is using.
QTVR stands for QuickTime Virtual Reality and is a technology that creates a more integrated experience, especially when using sound. QTVR has the highest images quality but also large image files to download (fullscreen). QTVR is free software download for all platforms and preinstalled into every MAC as well as many Windows PCs on delivery.
FLASH though not as high quality for play-back but is a good choice if you need to have Flash. Adobe® claims that virtually 95% of the world’s computers are now equipped with Adobe® Flash Player. We prefer JAVA because of its smooth playback, quick download and high overall quality.

Although we cannot quote a specific price without consultation, we bid each project on the needs and amount of VR-Images of that client. We must see those parameters in order to give fair pricing on a project.

How do I put these images on my website ?

We will send you or your Web Master / IT Department the panorama player (viewer Applet) and HTML code to integrate them into your web site. Your Web Master can copy and transfer this code to your own site. If you need help we are here to help you also. Further we can advise how to display our images in a module that matches your existing website.

How does the process of working with you go ?

After we discuss your needs we will make a proposal that includes costs and rough outline of what the project will entail. Once that is agreed upon, that outline may get developed into a comp. design or storyboard. We then schedule convenient time to come and shoot at your location. We create an online client page to show proof images as they progress during the approval and production phases. Once all the pieces are put together and fully programmed, we then deliver the files electronically via FTP or on CD to your IT department with the simple instructions on how to implement the VR-Images.

How long does it take to shoot a VR-Image ?

The creative photography time on location is in average 30 - 45 minutes. But it can take much longer if we have to organise and arrange props, stop traffic, wait for the furniture truck to disappear etc...
The post production component involves computer time and expertise for image assembly and web integration stages. Expert post production is crucial to the quality of the results and includes image editing, colour balance corrections, restoring scene details in highlights and shadows and miscellaneous retouching to produce an exceptional product for the client.
Also the tripod footprint can be replaced with a floor cap logo or the floor is restored completely. Average post production time is about 3 hours per panorama.

How soon after you take the pictures can I see the VR-Images ?

It really depends on the complexity and amount of images. A few days for small projects but normally 1-2 weeks after we leave your location and have received your deposit or payment.
